If you would like to apply for the Temporary Skills Shortage 482 Visa, your position must be found on the TSS 482 Occupation List.

Not all occupations can be sponsored on the 482 visa, so it is essential that you review the occupation for your preferred position before submitting an application.

Once you have determined your eligible occupation and its availability, you will need to complete the TSS Skills Assessments.

The TSS Skilled Occupation List is published as a separated instrument. This instrument lists three streams;

  • Short-Term Skilled Occupation Lists (STSOL)
  • Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skilled Lists (MLTSSL)
  • Regional Occupation List (ROL)

* Please note that for the Regional Occupation List (ROL) you must also review the List of Accepted Regional Regional Postcodes.

Each of the TSS 482 Visa Skilled Occupation lists is also separated into 3 columns;

  • Column 1 is merely the title of the position.
  • Column 2 is the is the 6‑digit ANZSCO code for the occupation, which you need for your application.
  • Column 3 is the inapplicable conditions, meaning that the number corresponds with the caveats for the position. (Exemptions & Limitations)

Caveats are displayed at the bottom of the page with their corresponding numbers.

New Skills in Demand Visa Subclass 482

The Migration Strategy, released in December 2023, introduced the Skills in Demand Visa with three pathways: Specialist Skills, Core Skills, and Essential Skills or Labour Agreement Stream. The new Skills in Demand visa was announced to replace the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) 482 Visa and provide more flexibility for workers and employers.

However, in early November 2024, the Australian Government confirmed that the Skills in Demand Visa (SID Visa) will retain its current subclass 482, meaning it will continue to be classified under the Skills in Demand Visa Subclass 482.

Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL)

On December 3, 2024, the Australian Government announced the release of the new Core Skills Occupation List (CSOL), which includes 456 occupations.

The CSOL will apply to the Core Skills stream of the new Skills in Demand Visa (SID Visa), which will replace the Temporary Skill Shortage (subclass 482) Visa on December 7, 2024.
