Temporary Graduate visa subclass 485 is a temporary visa for international students, who have recently finished their studies in Australia and held a student visa in the last 6 months. A new stream ‘second Post-study work stream visa’ has been introduced recently for holders of a 485 Post-study work stream visa who have studied, lived/worked in regional areas in Australia.

This visa has three streams:

Graduate Work Stream

For students who have completed 2 years of diploma or a trade qualification in Australia. It should be a CRICOS registered course.

Post-Study Work Stream

For students who have studied for at least 2 years and have completed a bachelor degree, bachelor (honours) degree, masters by coursework degree, masters (extended) degree, masters by research degree or a doctoral degree.

For the holders of 485 post-study work stream visa who have studied, lived/worked in one of the regional areas of Australia.

In December 2023, the Australian government announced a new Migration Strategy, introducing significant changes to various visa programs, including the Graduate Visa.
